First post (what else do you name a first post?)

I am quite nervous to begin a blog. My husband and cousin suggested it a little while back. So, here I am. First of all I will tell you a little about myself. I am a Registered Nurse in Decatur Al. I love my job. Ben is my husband. Or perhaps if you ask him he will say I am his wife =). He will graduate Engineering school on August 13th. He works for a contractor for NASA called URS. We have four dogs. Yes, four! Jorj Banks is our black lab. He goes by Banks. Annie is a golden retriever. Bella is a lab mix. Henry is a Beagle. I am a huge dog lover. Sometimes, my family thinks I love them a little too much. I don't have much of a plan for this blog. I basically just want a way to keep connected to family and also to have a journal of these early days in our marriage and life.

How Ben and I met.

Ben and I went to the same high school. However, we didn't really know each other. I knew who he was because he stood my best friend up for her 8th grade homecoming. Good thing he turned over a new leaf!!  Anyhow, I was a senior in high school and my parents informed me that some of their friends wanted to set me up with "one of those twin boys".  My parents friends setting me up? Thats just what every senior girl wants to hear. Also I forgot to mention that I am a "cougar". He was in 11th grade. So here I am signed up for this date.

The night of the date came and I swear to you that I was really sick ALL day with a fever. My mom called the lady that was setting us up to tell her I couldn't come. BUT I recovered around 9pm and went to my friends house. I REALLY did feel much better. It was just too late to go on my date. Anyways, on my way I passed H.I.M.  Yep, he saw me.

So the next day after I kind of stood him up, I called and invited him to go four wheeler riding with me and some friends. We went on our first date later that night. To a mexican food restaurant. Ben kept disappearing. He would come back to the table and then leave again. I found out later that he was leaving because he was throwing up due to the fact that he was so nervous!! Poor guy.

We began seeing a lot of each other. Pretty quickly I realized that I might just like him a little more than any other guy I had dated. He is exactly the opposite of anything that I would ever have looked for. Ha. Probably why I had a lot of boyfriends that did not work out. Goes to show that you only THINK your planning your life.  God knows best. I fell head over heels madly in love with tall dark handsome boy who eventually became my husband. He is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is my best friend. He can literally finish my sentences.

He proposed in February of 2008. We got married December 12, 2009  after I got out of college. He was/is still a student. We had a lot of comments that we were getting married too young. Truth for me is that I wish I had met him sooner!! There is nothing that I could ever do that I wouldn't want to share with him. He is truly my soulmate. He is the best husband on earth. Plus, how many couples have a box full of love notes that were given to them in high school from their husband?! Pretty cool, I know ;)
