What have your parents taught you?

I attended a wedding recently. During the ceremony the pastor told the bride and groom to take all of the things that their parents taught them and bring them into their marriage. So that got me thinking. What did my parents teach me that I brought to my marriage. Here they are, some serious, some just everyday living facts.

  •  My dad taught me not to brake when my car was hydroplaning.
  •  My dad taught me that life isn't fair.
  •  My mom taught me to poke holes in my baking potatoes so they wouldn't explode
  •  My dad taught me how to run a bead of caulk.
  •  My dad taught me how to wash a car.
  •  My dad taught me to be assertive and to go for my dreams.
  •  My mom taught me to not wash my skillets because they will rust.
  •  My mom taught me how to make gumbo.
  •  My dad taught me how to change a flat tire.
  •  My dad taught me How to cast my mickey mouse rod and reel
  • My parents taught me the value of money.
  •  They enforced good grades. Got me a scholarship to college.
  • My dad taught me how to mow grass in straight lines.
  • Most of all, they taught me that they will love me unconditionally.
What all have your parents taught you?
